About the Parish

St Cuthbert’s’ ChurchThe parish is spread over the Heaton and Manningham areas of Bradford and parishioners enjoy two churches; First Martyrs’ on Heights Lane and St Cuthbert’s on Wilmer Road.

More information about the history of the parish is available here.

The popular local primary school, St Cuthbert and the First Martyrs’ is located in the parish, as are the recently merged secondary Schools, St Bede’s Grammar and St Joseph’s College, forming St Bede’s & St Joseph’s Catholic College.

The parish is extremely diverse and welcomes families and visitors who have lived in the area for generations, right through to those whose stay in Bradford is only temporary.

The parish is a Fair Trade parish and a member of the West Yorkshire Ecumenical Council and the Girlington, Heaton, Manningham Council of Churches, supporting the Ark Charity Shop.

The parish relies on the support of volunteers for all kinds of tasks; from lifts to church, through to flower arranging and church council membership. The success and welcoming nature of the parish is down to the support and engagement of its members. If you have time to offer, please do find out more on our Volunteering Page and get in touch.
